The end of Brockhaus as we know it

The definitive end for the printed edition of the Brockhaus Lexikon was announced in August 2014. With it ends an era of a history of culture and design stretching over 200 years and 21 editions. Even if the intention is to continue publishing the Brockhaus online for a while and adapt it to modern updating demands, Wikipedia, its great competitor and undisputed research darling of the Internet community, has long dictated the timing.
