Axis: Concepts on the Horizon

The subtitle of Japanese magazine Axis is Concepts on the Horizon But some of the concepts in this monthly are not on the horizon at all. Like Chanel No 5, the book designed by famed Dutch book designer Irma Boom, produced in collaboration with fashion brand Chanel. It was presented last year and it contains no ink at all. Every page was produced by embossing, even the cover: a silhouette of the famous perfume bottle was embossed onto a black cardboard case.
Other highlights in the new Axis:  Design Thinking Misconceptions (feature), interviews with Tim Brown (Ideo), Naohito Okude (design professor) and Leonid Rath (J. & L. Lobmeyr). And a article that makes a true recipe of silk production: Yuki Tsumugi. (We’ll start experimenting this weekend)
