Becoming a Vamp

New magazine Vamp proves that print is far from dead.

The latest glossy to hit the fashion space is called Vamp. It hit shelves recently and was created by David Vivirido and Francesco Sourigues — the duo behind the men’s fashion and lifestyle magazine Hercules. Vamp promises to focus on strong, powerful women, captured in ’60s and ’70s-inspired photographs.

The glossy booked an impressive six blue-chip models for its first series of covers, including Emily DiDonato, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Liya Kebede, Karmen Pedaru, Andreea Diaconu and the legendary Carolyn Murphy, all shot by Paola Kudacki. In addition to beautiful imagery, the magazine will profile women who are the top of their respective fields.

Vivirido and Sourigues, originate from London’s editorial scene, working as assistants and freelancers for titles such as The Face, Arena, and Dazed & Confused. But finding the British fashion magazine scene cliquey and unreceptive to their sensibility, they relocated in Barcelona, creating their own publications, the creative capital that now harbours a bunch of refreshing titles, like The Plant and Apartamento.

To tease the upcoming release, Vamp has taken to its social media channels to post inspiring quotes from some of the industry’s most powerful females — Diane von Furstenberg, Donatella Versace, Lady Gaga — and portraits of the glossy’s muses of years past, including Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, Greta Garbo and Eartha Kitt. 

Of course, these worldly, sexy and provocative icons are a source of inspiration for all women who have a simple but difficult goal in life: being the woman you always wanted to be.
