LFI: broken football dreams
In the new LFI a reportage by American free-lance photographer Jason Andrew.
Every talented Nigerian football player dreams of playing at the highest level: in the European football competition. But though Africa and Europe are separated by only a few miles of sea, the difference between the two is enormous. A photo reportage by Jason Andrew in LFI illustrates this. It tells the story of young African football players who save enough money to fly to Turkey, hoping to be discovered. But this isn’t a story of success, as the cover of LFI betrays. It is a story of broken football dreams, of ‘talent scouts’ that take the money, of ending up in a ghetto in the suburbs of Istanbul, of becoming an illegal immigrant.
