Out Now: The Travel Almanac

Just arrived: the new edition of The Travel Almanac: autumn / winter 2013.

Ok, the cover of the magazine is perhaps a bit bleak, with the face of artist Matthew Barney staring at readers. But the interview with Barney (maker of the astonishing series The Cremaster Cycle) is interesting enough, and so is the rest of The Travel Almanac, the magazine that combines the avant-garde with travel.

In this issue: interviews with designer Linder Sterling, fashion photographer Juergen Teller, writer Angelika Taschen and beauty Riley Keough (who descends from Elvis Presley, that alone is a reason to be kind of famous). Travel gear (leather backpack by Hermes, € 9.500,-), souvenirs, hotels and an excursion to Hurtigruten (Norway, which is a quite dark country in winter).

And of course travel tips. Juergen Teller, on playing tennis in Greece: ‘… you arrive on a abandoned hotel that went bankrupt. There still six tennis courts and we always play tennis. It makes you feel a bit like an explorer, reminds me of Huckleberry Finn’.
