Abitare: the sound of summer

The new Abitare has that special summer feeling. And: it offers quite some DIY inspiration – design that can easily be adapted to your own needs and situation.

The animal shelter, a new refuge for city animals, developed by Enrico Liverani and Andrea Molti may certainly serve as source of inspiration for your own holiday pet care, though the size of it will differ. The original venue in Monza covers 6.000 square meters.

Also original and a source of inspiration: Matali Crasset’s Bibliobeach, a small beach kiosk that offers reading material to sunlovers. Some 300 books in total. It was realised in France, in the Southern Provence, commissioned by the city of Marseille.

Carrying around sound is certainly linked with a summer feeling. Not that it is new – already in the sixties of the last century hippies and provo’s carried playing transistor radio’s with them. Man is used to mark its territory by sound, like birds do. Technology makes this more sophisticated. In Abitare an interview with Sabine Seymour, writer of the book Fashionable Technology and curator of Sonic Fabric, at the MAK in Vienna. On the Orchestra scarf, the melodized pillow hammock and the recording shoes (picture).
