Interactive

Out now: Communication Arts, Interactive Annual

A print magazine publishing on interactive – does that add up? In the case of Communication Arts it does, at least if your interested in the background stories behind new design ideas. Communication Arts present its 2013 selection of design for the web, tablets, mobile and social. Some 40 cases of science in practice – from a tablet edition of Frankenstein (NYPL) to Google Wallet.

Clouds Over Cuba is one of the remarkable sites that are highlighted. Core of the site is a 25-minute documentary covering the Cuba Crisis. Added to that are interviews with experts, documents, foto’s, film footage, audio. And: a 10 minute what if scenario – of course escalating in nuclear war.

Some 70 people were working on this project by the John F. Kennedy Library & Museum. The result is not only a historic thriller, but also loads of information for the ones that want to dig deeper.
