Abitare: one year of BIG

Abitare is fully dedicated to BIG, the Bjarke Ingels Group. This agency, with studio’s in both Copenhagen and New York, is now one of the most prominent international studios for architecture.  BIG was founded by 38-year-old Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, and has a workforce of 161. It won 29 international competitions in the past 7 years and is present at construction sites all over the world. It is clear that BIG is the next big thing in architecture and Ingels is its starchitect, adding a good dose of rock and roll to his profession.

Following him for numerous months, Abitare has observed his ways of interacting with others, attempting to nestle in the space between his “gesture” and the responses of his various interlocutors. The result is a polyphonic work that reflects BIG’s communal reality and highlights the astonishing designs.
